Back to Monsterpocalypse after a little break. This week Jeremy tried out Lo-Tron who is the other metamorph that comes in the Voltron box set. I decided to use Rakadon, which is Jeremy’s favorite so far.

We couldn’t decide on whether Morphers/Flyers could use teleporters, due to the fact that it seemed to over-power those particular types of pieces. We ended up letting them go through, but next time we’ll make a house rule not too. That was, in the end, what ended up doing the most damage.

Jeremy would send his Morphers all the way to my side of the map and started disrupting my power base from the get go. I ended up holding him off and kept managing to take down his health with my regular units as opposed to my monster. When the fighting made its way to the other side of the map, it was easy to get my fliers over there to block and hit his monster.

Jeremy did have some good moves throughout the game. He threw Rakadon behind some buildings which got me stuck against the edge of the map because Rakadon can’t jump or fly. It would have taken me a few turns to get our of it.

My units ended up doing quite a bit of damage to Lo-Tron at this point so it was pretty much over.

Great game of Monsterpocalypse last night. Jeremy is getting much better with Voltron. There were a few points where I had no idea what to do. I was dumbfounded. I started using a power attack called Ram that knock a building into a monster on the other side for a point of damage. Its an attack that can require a cheaper cost as opposed to attacking the opponent directly.

At the end, after many repairs on Voltron’s part, I managed to use Ram to knock a nuclear power plant for the finishing blow.

Pteradax is my favorite sculpt and quickly becoming my favorite monster to play as.

Board games Voltron Cthulu Monsterpocalypse Miniatures

Another Monday Night Monsterpocalypse game has concluded. This week I tried Ancient Osheroth from the Lords of Cthtul while Jeremy stuck with Voltron. For the most of the match it was a little back and forth with damage, nothing too severe. Once I hypered up to the Ultra Metamorph, I started to deal some serious damage.

Once Jeremy formed Voltron, he flew him down to my power base and he was protected by some buildings. It was difficult for me to get to him in Ultra form as Osheroth is a pedestrian and cannot fly or jump. I opted to hyper down, and because I was in a spot that wouldn’t legally occupy some of my alphas, the rules let me destroy a building next to one of my spawn points to put them in there. It worked out perfectly, and I had a couple of the alpha tentacles do some damage to Voltron.

Jeremy unfortunately missed a few key rolls, and it was an easy follow up win.

Voltron will have his day I’m sure.

EDIT: I was just reading some strategies about Ancient Osheroth and I found out “Burrow” in alpha form, means they can legally occupy water. So my little trick wouldn’t have worked. I didn’t understand the wording on “Burrow” when I read it the first time. Ah well.

Monsterpocalypse Miniatures Board games Monsters Voltron

Another win for me last night at our weekly Monsterpocalypse game. I’ve found that the Alpha form of Ultra Tyrannix is really powerful. All the damage I did against Voltron the whole game was done through them. In fairness, Jeremy had a couple of the Voltron cats next to each other, and when I used explosion it did double damage. He knows not to bunch them up for next time.

Monsterpocalypse Board Games Monsters Cthulu

I picked up the DMZ box for the Lords of Cthul team for Monsterpocalypse last week, and I got to try them out on my neighbor Jeremy and Rakadon. Ulgoth is a pretty mean beast and once he gets in for the beatdown, it comes hard. He is great when people try to surround him because enemy units adjacent just die when he’s hit. He can’t be thrown (unfortunately for Jeremy, he thought that meant he couldn’t be smashed either. Terminology is very important in this game) and he does super damage in his Hyper Form.

Only downside to Ulgoth seems to be his weak defense and low health. He is certainly aggressive though.

monsterpocalypse board games

I got my Über Corp International army pack from Team Covenant yesterday! I’m really excited to try these guys out in my next monsterpocalypse game. The order came with a bunch of buildings too that I haven’t seen before like the sports stadium and construction site. I’m thinking of maybe painting these guys a little because I find the stark white removes any texture on them. We will see.

Board Games Monsterpocalypse Monsters

I did some work for a local comic shop and got a bunch of store credit. Today I bought a starter and a bunch of boosters for this game called Monsterpocalypse. It looks really cool. I’m hoping to get some of my friends to play.
