Back to Monsterpocalypse after a little break. This week Jeremy tried out Lo-Tron who is the other metamorph that comes in the Voltron box set. I decided to use Rakadon, which is Jeremy’s favorite so far.

We couldn’t decide on whether Morphers/Flyers could use teleporters, due to the fact that it seemed to over-power those particular types of pieces. We ended up letting them go through, but next time we’ll make a house rule not too. That was, in the end, what ended up doing the most damage.

Jeremy would send his Morphers all the way to my side of the map and started disrupting my power base from the get go. I ended up holding him off and kept managing to take down his health with my regular units as opposed to my monster. When the fighting made its way to the other side of the map, it was easy to get my fliers over there to block and hit his monster.

Jeremy did have some good moves throughout the game. He threw Rakadon behind some buildings which got me stuck against the edge of the map because Rakadon can’t jump or fly. It would have taken me a few turns to get our of it.

My units ended up doing quite a bit of damage to Lo-Tron at this point so it was pretty much over.

Great game of Monsterpocalypse last night. Jeremy is getting much better with Voltron. There were a few points where I had no idea what to do. I was dumbfounded. I started using a power attack called Ram that knock a building into a monster on the other side for a point of damage. Its an attack that can require a cheaper cost as opposed to attacking the opponent directly.

At the end, after many repairs on Voltron’s part, I managed to use Ram to knock a nuclear power plant for the finishing blow.

Pteradax is my favorite sculpt and quickly becoming my favorite monster to play as.

Board games Voltron Cthulu Monsterpocalypse Miniatures

Another Monday Night Monsterpocalypse game has concluded. This week I tried Ancient Osheroth from the Lords of Cthtul while Jeremy stuck with Voltron. For the most of the match it was a little back and forth with damage, nothing too severe. Once I hypered up to the Ultra Metamorph, I started to deal some serious damage.

Once Jeremy formed Voltron, he flew him down to my power base and he was protected by some buildings. It was difficult for me to get to him in Ultra form as Osheroth is a pedestrian and cannot fly or jump. I opted to hyper down, and because I was in a spot that wouldn’t legally occupy some of my alphas, the rules let me destroy a building next to one of my spawn points to put them in there. It worked out perfectly, and I had a couple of the alpha tentacles do some damage to Voltron.

Jeremy unfortunately missed a few key rolls, and it was an easy follow up win.

Voltron will have his day I’m sure.

EDIT: I was just reading some strategies about Ancient Osheroth and I found out “Burrow” in alpha form, means they can legally occupy water. So my little trick wouldn’t have worked. I didn’t understand the wording on “Burrow” when I read it the first time. Ah well.

Monsterpocalypse Martians Voltron Boardgames

A little late on my Monday night Monsterpocalypse recap. Mostly due to being lazy. It was a short and brutal match this week. Jeremy got too excited using Voltron and came down to my section of the map and destroyed part of my power base only to line himself up perfectly for an epic throw.

I threw him nine spaces into two buildings. Each building had “spire” and one had fire. So he took one hit from the throw, two hits from the building, two hits from the spire, and one more for the fire. Thats a total of six damage in one throw, destroying Voltron and leaving the lions all grouped together for an easy explosion attack doing enough damage to take out the Alpha form.

Fastest game yet. Lots of fun.

Another win for me last night at our weekly Monsterpocalypse game. I’ve found that the Alpha form of Ultra Tyrannix is really powerful. All the damage I did against Voltron the whole game was done through them. In fairness, Jeremy had a couple of the Voltron cats next to each other, and when I used explosion it did double damage. He knows not to bunch them up for next time.

Monsterpocalypse Voltron Game Boardgame Dice Tyrannix

After another Monday night of Monsterpocalypse, I claim another victory. Last week I take any pictures and I also lost. I need to make sure I state that in case Jeremy gets mad.

This week Jeremy wanted to use Voltron and I used Ultra Tyrannix since neither of us have used Morpher monsters before.

It wasn’t too pretty I took care of the lions very quickly with an explosion that hit three (doing three damage) and a monster stomp hitting the same three (again doing three damage). Voltron himself wasn’t too hard to take down after that.

Morphers are an interesting type of monster. The 4 (or 5 in Voltron’s case) can be very mobile and help disrupt power bases, but they are also very vulnerable to multiple hit attacks. I think we’re are going to keep a trend going of morphers for the next couple weeks to see if we can get a good handle on them.

Monsterpocalypse Cthul Terrasaurs Board game

After another Monday night of Monsterpocalypse, I am still beating down on Jeremy’s Rakadon. The first half of this game went really quick, but in the end I kept healing which frustrated Jeremy to no end. The Cthul team seems really easy to heal with. They have units and abilities that make it very easy.

I may have pushed Jeremy to putting away Rakadon in favor of another monster for next week. We’ll see. I think Rakadon can win, we just haven’t figured out the best way to use is abilities.

Monsterpocalypse Board Games Monsters Cthulu

I picked up the DMZ box for the Lords of Cthul team for Monsterpocalypse last week, and I got to try them out on my neighbor Jeremy and Rakadon. Ulgoth is a pretty mean beast and once he gets in for the beatdown, it comes hard. He is great when people try to surround him because enemy units adjacent just die when he’s hit. He can’t be thrown (unfortunately for Jeremy, he thought that meant he couldn’t be smashed either. Terminology is very important in this game) and he does super damage in his Hyper Form.

Only downside to Ulgoth seems to be his weak defense and low health. He is certainly aggressive though.

On Friday, I got to try out my new Monsterpocalpyse team, Übercorp International with monster Gorghadratron, that I ordered from Team Covenant. It went pretty well. At first I fumbled with a few of the units, but I got the hang of it soon enough. Repair units are silly and awesome. My neighbor Jeremy was not pleased with how easily I could repair my monster.

Hopfully, Privateer Press will release an update wave for the other six monpoc teams so I can get an installation. That would help keep the flow of power dice coming my way with this team.

I’m playing again tonight, and I’m not sure if I wanna use these guys again, or try another team. We will see.

I got my Über Corp International army pack from Team Covenant yesterday! I’m really excited to try these guys out in my next monsterpocalypse game. The order came with a bunch of buildings too that I haven’t seen before like the sports stadium and construction site. I’m thinking of maybe painting these guys a little because I find the stark white removes any texture on them. We will see.
