A collection of my recent Draw Something comic characters on the iPhone.
The folks at Strange Adventures found the long lost scene I had in a comic book. It’s the reason I have a beard now. To hide away from all the fans who would recognize me.
I’m pretty excited for this Garth Ennis Fury Max book thats coming out. I really love Nick Fury and any book that focuses on him is alright with me.
Really awesome webcomic I started reading today. Hilarious on many levels. Sometimes only one level. Even sometimes on no level. Always funny tho. Its best to start from the beginning because you can really see the artist improve over the course of the series.
I’m really digging this cover to Supergirl #8. George Perez is obviously one of the greats when it comes to comic book art. What I love about this thought is the negative space of the Silver Banshee’s costume being used. It’s been done before, no doubt, but the colors and the shapes really give a cool sense.
Got some new comics today. Volume Two of Invincible Iron Man and at my friend Neil’s recommendation, Grant Morrison’s Seven Soldiers of Victory.
I’m not always a huge fan of these giant universe cross overs that happen in comics. I usually prefer books to go their own way for a while and let themselves develop their own characters. Lately, Marvel has had back-to-back-to-back-to-back mega events for what seems like forever.
I understand they’re good for marketing and the fallout of these crazy stories can be really interesting in the single books after the fact. Usually though, I find them irritating.
Avengers vs. X-Men though has somehow captivated my attention. I’m really excited to see certain heroes fight with other heroes and the drama of who is on who’s side is also interesting. Wolverine and Beast for example are on the Avengers side. I’m not sure about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
I think this whole event will be pretty cool. With the recent upset in X-Men rosters, it will be sure to have an effect on the mutant universe.

Comics Art Circle of Four Ghost Rider X-23 Red Hulk Venom Marvel Rick Remender
Just read about this new Circle of Four book thats coming out starring some of my favorite characters. I love how it takes the inspiration from back when there was the “new” Fantastic Four with Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Grey Hulk, and Spider-Man. Remender is quickly becoming one of my preferred writers. He doesn’t mind taking on the darker characters who will cross the line, but he also deals with what a struggle that is for them.

Definitely have to reblog this. I hear (and have made) this argument all the time. It is really refreshing to see the way it actually is. I love comics, and more often then not, the art is rarely appropriate. Before I met some people that were sensitive to issues like this, I just accepted that way of art in comics. I still do. I found it didn’t really affect me personally. I don’t lust after scantily clad super ladies or wish I was a hulking muscular superhero. I just didn’t notice.
I do, however, understand that this is an issue and women are COMPLETELY objectified in comics. Its pretty sad. I think a change for that is a long way away in terms of mainstream comics. There are deposits of hope here and there.
This is the end of my little talk. Have a good friday everyone.
Anyway, enough porn. Back to GENDER ISSUES.
